I was expecting you to hit the jackpot with that one silver dollar, James. My wife and I have attended several of those time share and discount travel club presentations and always walked away with cash or tickets to shows and discounts at restaurants, and our money still in our pockets. Another exciting travel adventure. Thanks for sharing.

At the time I wanted the sure thing pack of cigarettes more than trying my luck one more time. You worked the salesfolk instead of them working you! Thanks, K.C.

Poignant and cheeky as always Ron. Never trust a real estate salesman or a slot machine. I leave those to my wife who seems to have the touch.

Love the song and the rolling riff.

Cheers

Hi, Bob. Thanks. That's for sure. A salesman wanted me to buy a really nice 5 acre plot that I knew was prone to flooding. I love topo maps! Gotta do your research. They don't call slots one-armed bandits for nothing. : )

I've never had much luck in Vegas or Reno, both of which reached into my pockets and took off with my cash before I could get where I was going. After a while I learned to go around Nevada. :)

I won $10 dollars on one play of a nickel slot in Winnemucca once while hitchhiking and got out of town before giving it back. I needed the money. Never any luck in casinos, either. I do like playing Hold'em online.

Ha ha ha! Las Vegas: Where ‘sensible decisions’ go to die. It is ALWAYS more fun in hindsight that it is when actually happening. They say the true jackpot in Vegas is the story you’ll tell for years to come!

Yes, indeed. It was ugly! It sure seemed like a good idea at the time. And yes, I've gotten a lot of mileage out of this story. : )

A line from a Heart song, "What a winner don't know, a gambler understands."

I remember that line. So true.

Great story! I never was much of a gambler. Back in the day, I would go to the dog track. And if I was on a cruise or at a casino, I would play some low-level blackjack. One time, I got into a big argument at a blackjack table, and that soured me on the game. I pretty much haven't gambled on anything since then. I don't even play the lottery.

I haven't bet on dogs, or horses. My dad bet on horses. Had a "sure bet" once and lost all his money saved for a car. Ha. I'll play Hold'em online but manage to keep it as entertainment. Blackjack always gave me trouble. No lottery, either. Thanks, Jim!
