Okay, so this is fiction, right? :) I like the premise: sell the necklace, then steal it and sell it again. Clever. A real cliffhanger, James. Looking forward to chapter 2.

Almost made it to El Chalten but the Argies didn't like my son's Chilean registered car and threatened to keep it if we continued across the border.

We headed south from there and crossed the border at a small post on a dirt road after an extended discussion with the lone official. I wrote about it here:
