This sounds like one hell of a time. I’m fascinated by it because I’ve never done anything like it (and know next to nothing about it!). What an exciting read! Thanks so much for sharing the experience with us. Also, I loved “The Golden Slide” and would love to hear an acoustic guitar playing along to it. It’s beautiful!
Hi, Justin. Thank you. I'm so glad you liked it! I really enjoy it but it's getting harder as I age. : ) My muscles ache. Will be doing more metal detecting in the future. Thank you very much re my song - it's been recorded with electric guitar band-like but I think sounds good acoustically as well. I much appreciate your comments! Take care.
Hi, JM! Thank you very much! You would probably enjoy prospecting. It's been fun. I've also had altitude sickness - wasn't sick like some get but felt like I was drunk without drinking. Had no energy, muscles were so weak. Was on Mt. Whitney. As soon as I got below 13,000' again, I was fine. Glad you liked my post. Take care.
Love the poem (Song lyrics?) at the beginning. I'm jealous of the experience but I think I'm better off reading about it at this point. Can't see myself scaling those hills with ropes. Thanks for the armchair adventure brother!
Hi Jim! Yes, song lyrics. We have a good time up at the river but I'll probably be doing more metal detecting in the future. Less wear and tear. : ) Thanks!
What adventure this is, James! All except for the poison oak and the hornets, that is! Tell us, please, in your history as a miner, what was the most successful find? How much in total do you think you have found? And when three men are working together, do you then divide the spoils equally for any day? This is all new and interesting to me.
Hi Sharron. Well - I wish I could say I've found some really large gold but that is not the case. One of the guys has found 8 ounces still in quartz while metal detecting. Can't say exactly as we don't really talk about it (like ball players - we're superstitious) and I've stopped counting. I just like looking at it. : ) We are still looking to "strike it rich", but we have recovered numerous ounces and we split it equally between we who worked the day. We keep going back. Glad you are finding this interesting! Thank you.
Hi Jim. I did reply to Sharron's questions but no, I'm not rich from my golding efforts. I wish! Thanks for asking! BTW, my wife has started reading your book,"Do You Believe in Magic". : )

Surely interesting, James Ron. Pack me up! Would certainly enjoy a cup of coffee in a tin cup over a fire in that country. Agree with Jim, great poem.
Hiked a couple of times in those Sierras and had zero energy. Later found out it was elevation sickness!
Alot of great background on the gold; great stores to boot!

Yes, I agree with Sharron! Are you rich?

Tell her thanks for me!!!
