#111 - When we arrived in Tokyo from Haneda Airport, it was already dark. Our hotel was in the old part of the city, a maze of streets in a hodge podge layout that our taxi guy found difficult to
Wow, what a wide-ranging host of experiences. You really got a good feel for the country and the culture. The sumo wrestling on TV reminded me of watching futbol and boxing with my father-in-law every Sunday, a traditional Mexican post-meal activity.
Japan wouldn't be a bad place in which to live. Country preferable to the city. Sumo made it easier for me to connect to the in-laws and doesn't require knowing the same language to grasp what's going on. We looked forward to the daily Sumo tournament matches.
Exactly! Sporting events are a great way to connect. My father-in-law and I watched sports on the Mexican channels. The exposure help me improve my Spanish.
Awesome experience, Ron. I felt like I was there with you and Shino. One of the most fascinating things about these kinds of experiences is how much alike we all are from continent to continent, culture to culture. Waiting for part 2, my friend.
Foreign travels are especially interesting when we're not just travellers but also have some connection to the local people, as you did on this trip. Because you recalled so many of the details about the people and the places, I felt like I was right there too, watching from the side. Thanks for taking me along!
A wonderful travelog, Ron! Now, next time, post that phto of you and Shino dressed in traditional clothing. Your readers would love to see you in your 20s!

I think people have more in common than differences and it doesn't take much for everyone to enjoy each other. Thank you, Jim.

I am fortunate to have the connection in Japan. The time spent away from the tourist places and things was the best. Glad you enjoyed! Thanks, Jim.
How beautiful it must have been, to see so much of Japan, as well as the experiences with Shinto’s family. Great adventure, James!
We had a fine time, would like to get back there again. The southern most islands are tropical, that sounds real good. Thank you, Sharon.
