IN GOLD COUNTRY
Chap.#1 - On the Dorado -
I was checking out a claim I was thinking about getting. It was the Red Bar claim, on Dorado Creek, above the Gold Luk Mine. I liked the idea of being next to a mine. The area pulled good gold out of the ground in the past.

Chap.#2 - The Road Out, And In -
I thought of The Bear, and my eyes and ears focused. There is mountain lion here, too. They get you from behind. I started whistling, and making more noise, to alert anything to my presence. Maybe wearing a bell would do. I should have brought my dog, Roscoe.

Chaps.#3 - Pre Fire -
I found a good spot off to the side and pulled out my gear. I put some water on to boil and began to set up my tent. The potluck was certainly more appealing than the packaged chicken teriyaki and rice I was planning on. I was hungry. I settled into a cup of coffee as I finished my set up.

Chap.#4 - Ringside -
Flashlight beams bounced through the woods and in ones and twos and small groups, more folks entered the fire's light. A flurry of activity ensued as chairs were unfolded, and salads, potatoes, and desserts made their way to the tables.

Chap.#5 - Gold Talk -
It had cooled down. Hands were going to pockets and a few of us moved closer to the fire for a while. I was one of them. More wood was brought in, and the fire was stoked, sparks curling up.

Chap.#6 - Sing Song -
“Do it, Streak!” “Play some, Alex!” and other encouragements set the stage as Alex looked around. He nodded “OK” and moved closer to the fire.
#7 - TALE MAKER
Chap.#7 – Tale Maker -
We got up and moved around, or over to the fire, to which more fuel was added. The night was getting crisp. Into the ice chests for more beer went more hands.
Gino stepped up front saying, “Let’s do the Giveaways!”
In Gold Country #8 - Backstory
Chap.#8 - Backstory -
Things slowly returned to normal, and we broke up into groups again resuming our talk. “Goodnights” and “Thanks” to Gino, and to Jim and Robert for the cooking, and “Thanks for the beer!” made the rounds as folks started making their way back to their sites.
In Gold Country #9 - Wind Down
Chap.#9 - Wind Down -
Jessica and Gino, with his shotgun, and Otis came up, and sat by the fire having made their rounds through the camp.
“Let’s see if The Bear is still around,” he said smiling.
