This scene managed to be subtle and tense at the same time. I love how real the marsh felt from your descriptions. You always make the reader feel like we're right there in the thick of things, exploring unfamiliar surroundings and employing some unknown skill. I learn something every time I read one of your stories. (My mind also went to Stand By Me and the leeches... great movie.) Nicely done!
What a story! I couldn’t help but think of the leech scene in Stand by Me (looks like Victor had mentioned this below, too). How very sketchy! I can’t imagine towing a boat through a marsh at night like this. Especially not with gators lurking!
Enjoyed the story, James Ron. You weave a mean story or describe one! Took a vacay once in Savannah that included some fairly thick water grass. Daughter was off swimming through it (a teen at the time) and I don't know if the trepidation was more for her or me! (no piranhas that day!)
Thank you very very much! I know what you mean about the trepidation. It's just strange walking on such grass. No firm footing and knowing what I might see alongside of me just gives me the creeps.. Glad you enjoyed the story!
Holy Cow, James Ron!! What an adventure. ( I hope it was not autobiographical) I guess some men would find this a thrilling event. But this lily-livered lacy-pants, found it so scary. You truly made it real. Eeeeks! Great story!
Hi, Sharron! The storyline is of a friend of mine who did lose power in his boat and he had to pull it out through the marsh at night. His main concern was of the gators and the mosquitos. I forgot about the mosquitos. So glad it didn't happen to me. Thank you very much!
Well, that was an adventure! Nicely done, James. Poor Ted, doing the Humphrey Bogart. Stand By Me has a leech scene, too. Okay, time for a coffee and bourbon. Glad everybody made it.

Agree. ❤️
J.M., I am grateful for your comments. You made my day. Thank you very much!

Thank you, Justin! I think it's one of those things you don't think about before you are confronted with it. : )
So very true!

Actually I have to admit: been there, done that. (Twice.) Yeah, I'm a slow learner.
Good that you made out okay! Yes, some lessons are repeated, even a third, or more, times.

Thank you, Victor. I'm glad you liked it. I'll have to check out Stand by Me. Coffee and bourbon sounds good. : )
I'm with you, Victor. Coffee and bourbon for me, too, and hold the coffee...
: )
