I remember watching the OA from across the lake. Rumors of the initiation freaked me out. Boy Scouts was a great experience for me. My father liked it, too. He'd always find a good fishing hole while we were out on a hike or some other activity. Gator hunting? No way, Brother. The lost pilot game sounds like fun. We used to spend hours playing capture the flag. Thanks for triggering fond memories, James.

i would have bet that you were a Scout, K.C. : ) OA wasn't hard, I remember hearing things about it also. The lost pilot hunt was a lot of fun as was capture the flag. For sure, fond memories. Thanks, K.C.

You did a lot of service work in OA, I believe.

That was a big part of it.

Fried Gator bites are pretty good, a little chewy though. Not good enough to motivate me to go on a gator hunt!

Frying makes most things tolerable. I wouldn't hunt gator for food either. It was fun. Thanks, Jim.

Holy Moley, Ron! What a life you've had! Starting early on you sought so much adventure! I look forward to hearing about them all. Glad you were just kidding about skinning and eating the hapless gator, though. Euw!

Hi, Sharron. Thank you very much! I may have had an adventurous nature but I think that in my youth, it was more about a simpler time and a lot of room to roam and kids who egged each other on. Just be home for supper and stay out of trouble. - that didn't always happen. BTW, alligator tastes just like chicken. : )

"Just be home for supper and stay out of trouble..." That's how I was raised. Parents nowadays would be shocked that my parents didn't know where we were most of the time.

We had a lot of freedom. Mum was the word on most things we did. Usually no questions were asked. But I was surprised how some things got back to my parents - that often didn’t go well. Everybody knew everybody and kept an eye out.

Same here. Particularly the overnight “campouts “ in someone's backyard.
