A lovely, no-conflict, no-drama travel tale. Well done.

Thank you very much, Helen.

Now there’s a good reason for a road trip: to find a good place to read a book. Maybe I should keep a kindle in the glove box.

The only thing that jarred me was pineapple on the pizza. I fall hard on the no side of the argument.

A Kindle in the glovebox is a good idea. "Yum, pineapple!" : ) Thanks, Switter.

Seriously about the kindle. I got a perfectly good Paperwhite one on eBay $20 for a friend.

The pineapple remains a mortal sin.

What a refreshing and relaxing road trip, even if experienced vicariously as a reader. So much nicer to go with the flow and let the trip evolve naturally, instead of planning and hurrying. There was no mention of mobile phones or Internet, so I assume the time was before such things. And that made it into a real getaway from the day-to-day. Next time I go driving around for a day or two I might try leaving my phone at home!

Thank you, Jim. Yes, there was no cell phone or internet then. He would have been texting his wife and surfing the web. What a necessity, and distraction, they have become. I will leave my cell home on purpose at times, but I almost feel lost without its presence.

I meant James not Ron.

No worries. I go by Ron. : )

One of your best, Ron. A good book, a loving dog, and an ocean view, it doesn't get much better than that. Of course, there was pizza, too. Seems we are always in a hurry for no good reason. A great reminder to take some time to enjoy the moment.

Thank you, KC! You bet. It is hard to turn off that "always in a hurry" mode, but worth it. I'm getting better with practice.

"At twilight, the wind increased, the fog scaled the cliffs, crossed the road, and blew up the hillside in a gale." "Two container ships made their way in the distance, one coming, one going. A sailboat, and a trawler. Maybe he’d see a whale." You have taken us on another fine road trip, Ron - one of your very best genres. I love traveling along with you, especially when it is on terrain and highways I am familiar with!

Thank you, Sharron. I most appreciate your reading! Thought of you on the coast with the recent tsunami warning. I felt it, just barely.

No problems here. Good thing, too, as half of Santa Cruz ran down to the beach with their cameras. Selfie with tsunami. God help us…

Isn't that the craziest thing? Seems to happen with tsunamis.

Reading this settled in my favourite reading chair, and it read so warm and comforting I feel asleep.

Artful, as always, Ron.

Thank you.

Yes, I feel the same, Bob.

Thank you, Bob. I'm glad you liked it.

I hope the book he was reading was called "Tales From The Road, The Collected Wisdom of James Ron." That would be a good read. (Just a suggestion.)
