#148 - The deck lights were on; those on poles along the guard rails blinked red on and off. The superstructure was lit up. It looked like some red and black behemoth bearing down on its prey.
Well, I'm happy to hear this was not a true story about one of your experiences, James. But that just makes it all the more impressive. The detail in the description of events makes it sound authentic. The action is terrific. Nice twist at the end. I became suspicious when the townspeople had not reacted. What did happen?
All was true up to the tanker entering the fog at the lift. Then it becomes Twilight Zone like.
It could have been a dream state, or some such, but for the scorched car evidence. Something real happened. I liked doing this one, not sure where it was going. Glad you liked it. Thank you kindly. KC.
Holy cow, Ron! I hope you have a part two for this - and make it quick! Shocking! You must have witnessed something like this, otherwise you could not have made it so vivid.
Well... I hadn't given it any thought but since you did, I'll definitely think about it. : ) No, I don't know of anything. It's just a story. Thank you, Sharon. Very much.
The description of the torched car reminds of the real life burnt cars in Paradise, California. The first time I went there after the fire, there were two city blocks filled with burnt cars stacked at least three high.
But more startling, there were many cars still being used that had melted bumpers and front or back taillights, even two years after the fire.
Hi Switter. I saw the damage up at Paradise, also. And burnt out cars piled up. Hard to imagine the heat. The winds just bellowed the flames thru town and treetops. It was amazing. That's crazy how those cars still ran. Thank you.

Well, then, you gave me an outstanding piece of fiction this morning!
You are very kind, Sharron. I can't thank you enough.
😘

Great tale, James.

18,500 structures burned, but the DMV survived. Someone’s idea of a cruel joke.
It's a hard pill to swallow for sure.
Cockroaches, goats, and the DMV. The last living things on earth.
