The guy was lucky Charlie's blow did not produce the intended effort and so was Charlie. I think an act of violence, a striking out, does snap a person back to reality. With all of the home security and other cameras these days, a person has to assume their actions in public are being observed and recorded. Nice twist at the end, James. It's true, sometimes jerks will not let you walk away.

For sure both were lucky. I think Charlie had a good case for self defense until he picked up the bottle. These days I think he would be judged to have overreacted, as if one can set his level of self defense/adrenaline rush response beforehand. Yes, one must act as if there are always eyes on you, camera or otherwise. Thanks, K.C.

Indeed, how does one give a measured response when reacting to a threat. Law enforcement go through extensive training in this regard and they still overreact at times.

I'm grateful that there are those who, knowing beforehand, will go into these threatening situations.

Yeah, this really spoke to me. I'm trying to write a little novel about a patient guy who loses it.

I wish you well on your novel! I know it is a lot of work. I admire the effort and the skill it takes. I don't have the patience. Ha. I'm glad you liked my story, Kyle.

Hello, Kyle. I believe that is so. We don't know the point at which enough is enough nor do we know the outcome of the actions taken when that point arrives. Thank you for commenting!

Too many jabs at a peaceful soul, and it can break open, and release the lion. I think that’s what happened to this poor guy. It’s gotta come out sometime! Such a great story, Ron!!

Yes, indeed, and once that lion is released, we may be surprised at our own ferocity. Thank you, Sharon, very much!

There does come a time for action, like it or not. Good one, Ron.

Hi, Jim. It seems damage of any sort, is tolerated past the breaking point before the action is taken. No "nipping in the bud," as Barney would say. Thank you for liking the story, and the restack!

Yowza! What a story, Ron! Even without the twist at the end, it was powerful just seeing him make the decision to walk away. But the witness really nailed it. What a despicable character you created in such few words. More than one evil exists in the world. Excellent work.
